Manchester City’s squad has hit a critical point with only 13 senior players available after their Carabao Cup loss to Tottenham. New injuries to Akanji and Savinho add to their crisis, with key players like De Bruyne already sidelined. Guardiola faces a tough challenge with three away games ahead.

Key Highlights

  • Only 13 players are fit to play.
  • Two new injuries from Wednesday’s cup loss.
  • Three away games ahead with a limited squad.

Defending Champions Down to Just 13 Players

One of the best football teams in England, Manchester City, is having a serious issue. Pep Guardiola, their coach, claims that they only have 13 players available to play, which is hardly enough to form a team!

Star Players Already Missing

A number of the team’s best players are already missing. Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, and Kevin De Bruyne are unable to play due to medical treatment. Coach Guardiola was concerned that Erling Haaland, their leading goal scorer, may also get an injury; therefore, he had to sit out Wednesday’s match.

Coach Guardiola’s Concerns

“This is very difficult for us. In my nine years at the club, we’ve never had so many players injured at the same time. But our remaining players will work extra hard and stick together.”

Pep Guardiola said after the game.

Tough Schedule Ahead

Manchester City’s timing couldn’t be worse. Before the players depart for international duty, they have three away games left. They will first go on Saturday to meet Bournemouth. After that, they will take a plane to Portugal to play Sporting CP in a crucial European match. They will play Brighton in their last match.

Champions Face Their Biggest Test

The winners from the previous year are now up against their toughest test of the year. Since there are only 13 healthy players available, each match will put their strength and teamwork to the test. Their well-known coach is concerned about the issue but is committed to using the athletes at his disposal to find answers.
