Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal isn’t holding back—he believes the Blaugrana are the outright favorites to win the Champions League. With Borussia Dortmund next up, the 17-year-old is backing his side to go all the way. But is he right?

Barcelona’s Form Under Hansi Flick – A Goal Scoring Machine

Barcelona has been on fire this season. Under Hansi Flick, they’ve been playing incredible football, scoring 132 goals in 43 games—that’s 3.07 goals a game. It’s scary.

Their only blip in Europe? A 2-1 loss to Monaco on matchday one. Since then they’ve been smashing teams, finishing second in the group behind Liverpool and crushing Benfica in the Round of 16.

Now with Liverpool eliminated by PSG, Yamal is doubling down on Barca being favourites.

Lamine Yamal’s Quote

“We are the favorites for the Champions League,”

Yamal told SPORT. “When the group stage finished, I said Liverpool were the favorites because they were first, and now that they’ve been eliminated, it’s us.”

Bold words for a 17-year-old. But is he right?

How Barcelona Compares to the Rest

Barcelona’s biggest strength? Their attack. Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, and Yamal himself have been unstoppable. The team moves like a well-oiled machine, with Flick’s pressing overwhelming the opposition’s defenses.

But there are concerns. Their attack is fluid, but their defense has looked shaky at times. Injuries have forced rotations, and against top opposition, this could be a problem.

Then there’s the competition. Real Madrid, Manchester City, and PSG are all in the mix. Madrid are expert at grinding out Champions League wins. City under Pep is one of the most complete teams in Europe. And PSG, with dembele in form, can punish any defensive mistakes.

Can Barcelona win it all?

It’s 10 years since Barca last won the Champions League. They’ve had humiliations, rebuilds, and disappointments. But this season something feels different. Flick’s team is brutal, aggressive, and relentless.

Yamal isn’t wrong, but they still have a long way to go. Dortmund won’t be easy, and the challenges get tougher after the quarter-finals. If they can sort out their defense and keep their attack, then Yamal’s prediction might just come true.

What do you think? Is Barcelona the team to beat, or is Yamal speaking too soon?
