Mikel Arteta wasn’t in the mood for chat. After Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Man Utd, he stormed out of a live TV interview without answering a question about the Premier League title. Fair enough, to be honest.
Arsenal’s Title Hopes Over?
Arsenal went to Old Trafford knowing they needed a win to keep up with Liverpool. Instead, they dropped points, now 15 behind the Reds. That’s not a gap; that’s a chasm.

Sky Sports’ Patrick Davison asked Arteta: “Is the title over?” Arteta’s response? Silence. He just walked out, looking furious.
Before that, he defended his players when asked if they should have beaten a poor United team. “I will defend my players all the time because of the will to win, there is no question about that. But in those moments we have to be better as a team. That’s it.”
That’s frustration talking. Arsenal had the game in their pocket for large parts of it but couldn’t finish it off. The lack of a clinical striker is becoming a big problem—one Arteta won’t publicly admit to.
The January Mistake?
When asked if Arsenal regrets not signing a striker in January, Arteta was blunt: “No, no. It’s not about that.” But is he convincing anyone?
Arsenal’s attack has been poor in recent weeks. Jesus and Nketiah have their strengths, but neither is a pure goal-scorer like Haaland or Salah. Arsenal’s attack works when chances are tucked away, but too often they’re wasted.
January was the time to fix that. They didn’t. And now the title race is slipping away and it’s a mistake that’s going to haunt them.
Where Does Arsenal Go From Here?
Arteta is right to be frustrated, but storming out of an interview won’t change the table. Arsenal have a Champions League to fight for, and they’re practically through to the quarter-finals after thrashing PSV 7-1 in the first leg.

But let’s be honest—Arsenal fans wanted more than a deep Champions League run this season. They wanted the title. And now it’s slipping away.
Can they get it back? Or is it another season of so close yet so far for Arsenal? One thing’s for sure—Arteta won’t answer that just yet.
